“I had always dreamed of opening a one-of-a-kind facility dedicated to orthopedic manual physical therapy. I have worked in many different settings specializing in the treatment of sports-related injuries as well as a variety of orthopedic conditions. I’ve seen and treated patients in hospitals, private clinics and long-term care facilities. My dream turned into reality in August 2006 when I opened OMPT Specialists. I enjoy the freedom to treat my patients and take as much time as I feel I need in caring for them one-on-one.”

“I was attracted to the field of physical therapy from a very young age. I wanted to pursue it not only as an art but as a science. Traditional physical therapy focuses on the treatment of symptoms. Often this means an unresponsive treatment because the real cause of the problem may be located elsewhere. This treatment of ‘referred pain’ can lead to an inaccurate physical therapy evaluation and ineffective treatment.”

Dr. Krauss is the coordinator of the Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Graduate Certification and an Associate Professor at Oakland University School of Health Sciences. Dr. Krauss has authored/coauthored numerous books, book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on manual treatment for a variety of orthopedic conditions.

“I entered the physical therapy profession with the simple desire to help people. I found I also enjoy solving the puzzle. Each patient comes to us with a unique combination of symptoms and set of needs. I get much gratification out of thinking through this information and determining the best way to address each person’s symptoms and goals. But the biggest contribution I give to my patients is hope: relief from their pain and stiffness and increased mobility.”

Dr. Kondratek is an Associate Professor in Oakland University’s Physical Therapy Program and the author of numerous journal articles in Physical Therapy.

“I became interested in physical therapy in the fifth grade, when my mother suffered a stroke that left her unable to walk, talk or write. After many years of therapy, my mother is nearly back to her old self. Physical therapy gave me my mother back. What I enjoy most about my job is the joy in someone’s eyes when they reach a goal and they see there is hope. I want to give people their lives back through physical therapy — just like it did for my mother.”

“I chose a career in physical therapy because it provided me the opportunity to work one-on-one with patients while utilizing my expert knowledge in movement, function and health promotion to help them achieve their goals. By providing a highly individualized and hands-on approach to physical therapy, I am able to assist my patients to return to maximal function following injury, illness or surgery. Overall, having the ability to guide people with impairments to a greatly improved quality of life provides the greatest reward, and I would love the opportunity to work with you in order to achieve your goals.”

Prior to joining the OMPT Specialists team in the summer of 2011, Molly worked as a full-time therapist at an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Midland, MI. Molly has hands-on experience with a number of orthopedic conditions, focusing mainly on sports rehabilitation and manual physical therapy.
